Short CV Jan Scheerer

Jan Scheerer studied conducting and music theory in Karlsruhe (Germany) and Copenhagen (Denmark) with, among others, prof. Dan-Olof Stenlund and prof. Giancarlo Andretta, complemented by masterclasses given by, among others, Eric Ericson, Frieder Bernius, Morten Schuldt-Jensen, Uwe Gronostay and Georg Grün. He won the third international “Mariele Ventre” competition in Bologna. Since then engagements as choirmaster and assisting conductor at the Royal Opera House in Copenhagen, at the Danish Radio and at the Gothenburg Symphonic Orchestra, amongst others the preparation of Mahler’s Third Symphony for maestro Sir Simon Rattle. He has been teaching choral conducting at the “Südtiroler Sängerbund” (Italy) summer seminar and organizes since 2012 his own master classes on choral conducting and ensemble singing. He was artistic leader of the 2012 and 2013 autumn projects of the “Landesjugendchor Baden-Württemberg”. From October 2013 to July 2015 he taught choir and ensemble conducting at the Musikhochschule in Hanover (Germany) and he is responsible for choir conducting teaching at the Royal Music Academy in Copenhagen since August 2015. Since 2014 the advanced classes of classical choir conducting of the Danish Amateur Music Association and from summer 2015 on, he has been appointed artistic leader for the choral conducting summer seminar of the Südtiroler Sängerbund in Bozen (Italy).
